WHO IS SMEARING WHO?
Have you heard about the smear campaign against DBS?
Lois Anderson, the Executive Director of Oregon Right to Life, just put out a letter claiming that there was an “inaccurate and spurious campaign against Senator David Brock Smith,” and that, “as a pro-life elected official in Oregon, Senator Brock Smith may be used to untrue things being said about him, but this latest effort goes beyond the pale.”
She then says “In fact, his team has issued a cease-and-desist letter pointing out the blatant disregard for the truth demonstrated by recent mailers and billboards.”
Evidently, Lois Anderson has been sadly misinformed by DBS who is well known for his habitual “blatant disregard for the truth.” Therefore, let’s set the record straight:
I am candidate Todd Vaughn, and the only cease-and-desist letter that my campaign has received from DBS was a demand to remove my statement in the Voters Pamphlet that rightly said that “DBS introduced legislation to fast-track windmills off the Oregon coast.” The accompanying link (https://tinyurl.com/DBSwind) readily proves my point, but DBS’s lawyer insisted that I resend the word “fast-track” pertaining to HB3375 which he readily sponsored at the behest of Kate Brown. To this day, DBS continues to tell his constituents that he is against these offshore wind-energy projects, but everyone knows that he’s lying.
If you look in your Voters Pamphlet, you will notice that my statement remains unchanged.
Lois Anderson then went on to tout DBS’s recent proposed legislative attempts to re-establish his claim of being a pro-life candidate, when everyone knows that he refused to participate in “the walk-out” that attempted to prevent girls of any age from getting an abortion without parental notification. Indeed, HB2002b was passed when Senate Minority Leader Tim Knopp, along with other “walked out” Republicans, came back and yielded quorum, thus allowing the vote to be taken. And in the end, DBS refused to vote “NO” on this horrific legislation that ultimately cost our most conservative Senators the right to seek re-election.
And so I ask… how much money did DBS offer the Executive Director of Oregon Right to Life to carry water for him? And… “WHO IS SMEARING WHO?”
