HB 3375: the windmill Co-conspiracy and cover-up

I’m running against David Brock Smith (DBS) for State Senate (SD1) in the Republican Primary on May 21st. It is my contention that DBS, as a legislator, has often been… and often is… a co-conspirator with the Democrats in Salem. There is ample evidence that his proclaimed loyalty to his conservative constituents is conditional at best, and dishonest at worst.

Personally, I’m going with “dishonest” because DBS voted nearly 40% of the time with the most progressive Democrats like Tina Kotek and Rob Wagner of Portland. Then, he tells you and me that he’s America First. But you can decide for yourself when you click on the link provided by my friends at the Republican Unity Caucus. Take note on HB 3375, the offshore windmill bill that began and fast tracked the process of installing 250 square miles of offshore windmill industrial complex in the pristine waters off the coast of Coos Bay.

This 2021 Regular Session video footage shows DBS addressing the House of Representatives as he takes credit for pushing forward Oregon’s proposed “floating offshore wind energy projects” through his chief sponsorship of HB3375. Then Governor Kate Brown, along with her sidekick, House Speaker Tina Kotek, might as well have “co-authored” this Biden Administration Green New Deal Project… and everybody knows it. DBS was proud of the fact that it was happening in his district… but what he didn’t mention was the much needed “bipartisanship” credibility that his sponsorship yielded. This legislation passed even though no serious environmental impact studies had been conducted, and it certainly appeared to be getting “fast-tracked” by the coastal communities who had clearly voiced their near-unanimous opposition. DBS came home and told everyone his negotiations on their behalf had given them two extra “public comment” opportunities that they would never have had… if not for him. Does he think we are all RUBES?

My campaign included the word “fast-track” in my voter’s pamphlet when we exposed the HB3375 “co-conspiracy” between DBS and the DEMs, and on April 1st (imagine that) I received a “Cease and Desist Letter” from Smith stating the following:

“You have violated the Oregon Corrupt Practices Act by publishing the following false statement in your voter statement: “DBS INTRODUCED LEGISLATION TO FAST-TRACK THESE WINDMILLS OFF THE OREGON COAST.

We demand that you immediately issue a retraction of this false statement and correct your statement. If we must take legal action and prevail, the court is required to make you pay Senator Smith’s attorney fees. If we must take legal action, we will also seek economic damages and noneconomic damages.”

If you would like to help me with my INEVITABLE LEGAL FEES, please donate generously to help… “FAST-TRACK” THIS LOGGER TO SALEM!
